On Saturday, May 2, the Middle School Track and Field finals took place at Oi Futo. It was a busy, intense day, filled with supporters including Middle School Principal Mrs. Griffiths and PE Department Director Mrs.Tootell. Out of nine participating schools, ISSH placed fifth.

Many outstanding athletes achieved their personal best (PR). Out of 34 competitors, Alexandra (7) placed 3rd in the long jump and 8th in the 100m hurdles. Moeka (7) also performed exceptionally well, breaking the school record for the 300m hurdles, with the time of 57.70 seconds.

The 4×400 team, consisting of Alice (7), Eri (8), Jennifer (8), and Shiori (8) and the 4×100 team including Victoria (7), Ashley (7), Elno (7), and Eri (8), excelled in their performance. Results included 8th place in discus by Eri (8), 7th in 3000m by Erika (8), 5th place in high jump by Hana (7), and 8th place by Eujin (7).

Ms. Davis, the coach of the Track and Field team said, “The team performed well, and we placed as usual. I liked this year’s track because there were records broken and there were a lot of new people.” She also commented that many athletes seemed to have fun in track this year. She hopes that the team will keep growing with new members next year.
