Karen was born to Japanese parents and raised in New York before moving to Japan at age 11 and attending the American School in Japan in middle school and the International School of the Sacred Heart in high school. She is a senior in her fourth year at ISSH. Her hobbies include practicing classical pieces on the piano and violin for competitions, recitals, and orchestra performances, and watching documentaries, vines, and YouTube videos. This year is her first year in Journalism, and she is looking forward to writing articles for The International that provide insight into life at ISSH and in Japan.
