Underwhelming art aquarium

Rows of people line up in anticipation of the Tokyo Art Aquarium located in Nihonbashi. The mystery of this seemingly ethereal art exhibit disguised as an aquarium escalates further as you cascade through the hoards of people into a dark hallway; fish illuminated in purple and green lights greet you.

However, stepping into the main room is only met with a surge of disappointment. The room is compact and filled with people pushing to take photos of the few stand out pieces visible. Similarly, only a few species of fish, which can be seen on their fliers, are visible. There were several beautiful pieces within the exhibit such as a large globe-like tank illuminated with orange and red lights, as well as the digitally-controlled centerpiece; however, these pieces were unable to make up for the 1,000 yen entrance fee, long lines at the gate, and the inconvenience of getting to the location. Do not let the glamorous advertisements misguide you; the Tokyo Art Aquarium is definitely a pass for the season and cannot beat the experience of a normal aquarium.
