Captain Marvel

The latest addition to the Marvel film franchise, Captain Marvel, was released this month with strong anticipation from fans and film critics, excited to see the first ever female-led Marvel film. The story follows Carol Danvers, a.k.a. “Captain Marvel,” a soldier from the alien planet “Kree”, who becomes a powerful hero when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. While the beginning of the film is a little lackluster, the pace definitely picks up in the second half, and overall the film is entertaining and packed with action. The non-linear plot allows for interesting twists and cliffhangers that create an original and compelling story. In addition, the film attempts to answer the “unanswered” questions of the Marvel franchise and revisits the past of certain important characters. For hardcore Marvel fans, this movie is a must-watch. The film has grossed over $1 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of 2019, as well as the 11th highest-grossing superhero film of all time.
