“I didn’t really enjoy knitting at first. In fact, I kind of hated it. But there was a time when I was dealing with a lot of anxiety and knitting really helped with fidgeting energy. That’s when I really started to like it. It was a calming and meditative.

When I finished my first scarf, I was on a plane actually. I remember feeling pumped when I finished it, and there are photos of me looking so happy.

Another memory I have with knitting is in my old house. I had two guinea pigs and I would put them on the grass. I would just sit there knitting and they’d come up running to smell my scarf at the time. I also remember sitting at my nana’s bed knitting with her which was fun as well. My nana and my grandma taught me how to knit.

Right now, my motivation to knit is to finish my jumper by Christmas because it’s Christmas season, and everyone in my family has a sweater but me. Knitting usually comes in phases. I’ll just stop knitting at some point and start knitting again, so I don’t know when I’ll be done. You can check by following my Instagram page – @charlie_stitches.” – Zoe
