Ramen Addicts Unite
October 16, 2014
Have you ever been to Gotanda? If you answered “no” and you are a true “Ramen-addict” just like me, I suggest you do. Until a few years ago, I had no idea that Gotanda, a station only fifteen minutes away from our school by train, had the greatest number of top-ranking ramen stores in Tokyo. I can go on advertising every single one of them (because, trust me, their meals are absolutely delicious), but I’ll focus on one particular store, that I frequently visit as a form of stress relief – KOUSHYUICHIBA.
So why do I visit this store so often?
- It is different. I’m serious, different. Unlike typical ramen stores, Koushyuichiba is known for their “Wantanmen”, which is ramen with dumplings. The most exciting thing about this entire experience is that they make the dumplings from scratch right in front of you. So if you are interested in cooking dumplings, they definitely have some tips for you.
- It is cheap. Often we go to ramen stores and realize that a single bowl of ramen costs over a 1000 yen. Then you have the toppings, and some more toppings, and… you can’t afford it. Well, Kousyuichiba’s wantanmen bowls don’t cost over a 1000 yen (and the portions are HUGE!).
- They have the best side dishes you can find in a ramen store. Have you ever pondered the importance of side dishes? I mean, of course, you mainly go to restaurants for the main dishes, but let’s face it: you won’t willingly go to a restaurant without appealing side dishes. Ranging from typical gyozas to zasai-tofu, their “collection” is widely known and loved.
- There’s always a line of customers outside the store. You know what that means, right?
So next time you’re in Gotanda, make sure to check out Koushyuichiba! You won’t regret it.
