Julianne T. (‘26)
Julianne is a freshman attending ISSH. She is Japanese and half American and has lived in Japan her whole life. Her hobbies include boxing, singing, cooking, and baking. She has prior experience working in Journalism, as she was formerly one of the members of the Student Outlook, the Middle School Newspaper Club. There, she wrote a variety of different articles ranging from recipes to interviews. She feels that it is important to be vocal on issues that are left ambiguous and need light to be shed on them. Her goal in Journalism is to continue to reach out to connect with an audience outside of her community, as well as enhance her writing skills. She also is scheduled to present a Ted Talk at TEDxYouth@Tokyo.
Julianne’s favorite journalist is Lisa Sanders. Her first encounter with Sanders was when she watched the Netflix series, ‘Diagnosis,’ where Lisa introduces bizarre cases of people suffering major health problems despite not having a proper medical diagnosis. Though Sanders works as a physician at the Yale School of Medicine, she continues to write articles for the New York Times on a regular basis to help those suffering from unknown diseases get guidance and possible answers as to what they might be suffering from.
