The annual Middle School sleepover attracted a big crowd.

Since the beginning of the year, Middle School students have been begging the Student Council to host a school sleepover. Their wishes came true when Mrs. Griffiths announced that the Middle School sleepover was going to take place on February 27. For the next several days after the announcement, crowds formed around the school sleepover permission slips. This is what all the students had been waiting for, and it was up to the Middle School Student Council to make it the best it could be.

Students excitedly ran into the Duchesne Room on February 27. They quickly found a spot on the floor with their friends, started taking selfies, and posting them on social media with the hashtag #middleschoolsleepover.

A few hours after the sleepover started, the students watched “St. Trinian’s 2”, which did not get the best reviews. When asked how good the movie was, most students replied with a “meh”. One student said, “The movie could have been better. It was not well fit for all the grade levels in the Middle School.” Yoshimi (8) said, “Most of the students did not pay attention to the movie. Instead, someone brought Monopoly, so people gathered into a group and played with that instead.” She added, “Someone even brought pie, which was a huge surprise!”

As the sun set, the Middle School students started to get cozy in their blankets and pillows. “The atmosphere was joyful and everyone seemed to be having fun,” Ena (8) said. The 8th graders, being the oldest of the Middle School, were the last ones to sleep. Some students woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom- which was, according to one student, a “dark trip”.

When asked what the best part of the school sleepover was, almost everyone said, “The pancakes!”  This was a big relief for Sara, the president of the Student Council. “The Student Council woke up really early–like one hour before everyone else did–to make the pancakes. It was hard- we kept burning the pancakes, but in the end they turned out quite well, and we were really glad that most of the pancakes were gone by the end of the breakfast,” said Sara.

Overall, the sleepover was a huge success and received great feedback from those who attended the event. When asked if they would want another school sleepover to take place next year, everyone replied with an instant “YES!”
